Start Times

  • Individual start times will be allocated prior to the event.

  • Both events will start between 06:30 & 10:30. 

Entry Fees

Half & Full Marathon £15 per person

Events

Both events will start from the Recreation ground in Orwell. Competitors will then self navigate an unmarked course using the provided route description and map which will be emailed out to entrants at least 1 month before the event.  On the route competitors will pass through 2 (half) 3 (Full) checkpoints and aid stations. These will have cold drinks and toilets available.  Please note there may be Covid rules to follow at the checkpoints. All competitors will be advised of these prior to the event. 

This event is NOT chip timed.  There are no cut off times for either event although please be aware that the toilet facilities at CP1 (Both) & CP2 (Full) won't be available after 2pm. 

Location

Number pickup will be located on the Orwell Recreation Ground (SG8 5QL) as will the Start & finish line. 

CP1 - Arrington Village 

CP2 - (Full) - Wrestlingworth 

CP3 - Old Wimpole

Parking

Limited parking will be available on the recreation ground. Please take great care when entering or exiting the area and park with consideration.  There will be other parking available at the school and the village car park off the high street both a short walk away from the start area. Parking for the event is limited so if you can travel by other means or car share it would be greatly appreciated.

Registration​

Registration will take place in the Pavillion building on the recreation ground. Registration will be completed in waves, Please do not arrive before your scheduled time. You will be provided with your race number on registration. This with your designated start time will be allocated closer to the event. You will also receive checkpoint safety tags these will need to be carried with you and given to the marshalls at the checkpoints.  Please follow the Covid guidelines at registration. 

The closing date for entries will be 14th June or when the race limit has been reached, whichever is earlier. Late entries will be available on the day if spaces are still available. (Late entry cost is £20).

Route

The Half and Full Marathons start at the recreation ground and head towards the beautiful Leaden Hill continuing cross country in the surrounding countryside.  Both routes have a number of busy road crossings and some stretches when the route goes along a road please take caution here. That PB is not worth getting run over for.  Please stick to the footpaths at all times and close any gates that you pass through.  

The footing is a real mix of mud, gravel, grass, mud, tarmac, and concrete some areas will be uneven including the occasional rabbit hole so please come prepared and take care.

 

Compulsory Kit

  • Sun hat/head covering. (summer event)

  • Full waterproof body cover (jacket and trousers) (Winter event)

  • Map 

  • Survival blanket and basic first aid kit

  • 500ml fluid

  • Reuseable cup 

  • Mobile Phone

Marshals

There won't be any marshalls on the route only those at the checkpoints. If you require assistance contact the Race director. 

Music Players​

Parts of the route will include crossing road junctions and we therefore strongly advise you NOT to wear headphones during the race, for the safety of yourself and others.

Safety​

This is a cross country, multi-terrain course and all competitors enter it at their own risk. No liability will be accepted by either Petersfield Primary School, FOPS, Run Orwell, private landowners, or individual race organisers for any injury incurred by entering this race.

Dogs and Pushchairs​

We ask you NOT to bring your dogs on this occasion as they are not allowed on the registration area and for the safety and comfort of all competitors,due to parts of the route being narrow and uneven pushchairs are also NOT permitted on this run. 

Baggage

If you can, please leave your bags in your vehicles. If this isn’t possible bags can be left at the pavilion and should be safe, but we take no responsibility for any belongings left as we are unable to monitor them throughout.

Toilets

There will be toilets available in the registration area before and after the event. There are also toilets available at all 3 Checkpoints.

Refunds and Transfers

Due to this being a small event we are unable to offer refunds or transfers.

Refreshments

Post-race refreshments will be provided at the Orwell Recreation Ground.

Your Personal Data

Run Orwell is organised by Friends of Petersfield School. We will use the personal data you have provided to register you for the Run Orwell event. We will need to share this information with other organisations who are helping us to run the event. This includes our first aiders and chip timing company. We will also use your email address to send you updates and information about the Orwell Fun Run. We will keep your data secure and will not share your contact details with any other organisation for any other use.
