10K and 5K events are chip timed. Medals for finishers of all events.
Both the 10K and 5K events will be chip timed and will have a water station available for all runners.
The 10K event is open to entrants over 16 years of age and the 5K event is open to entrants over 10 years of age. However all participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult and any unaccompanied under 18s will need parental permission at registration. Please note that if you are accompanying a junior runner then you need to also have paid for entry to the event and the junior runner must remain within arms reach of you at all times. The reason for this restriction is due to a small section of the route being on an open road and the safety of runners is paramount to us at all times.
The 2K event is a fun family event, allowing all ages and abilities to take part and be involved, this event will not be chip timed. Children taking part in the 2K fun run will remain the responsibility of their accompanying adult at all times. The entry fee for the 2K event includes a finishers medal for all paid entries. Non paying adults can choose to accompany their child on the course however they will not be eligible for a medal.
Number pickup will be located on the Orwell Recreation Ground (SG8 5QL) as will be the finish line. The 2K fun run starts from the Recreation Ground. The 5K and 10K start line is a short walk away on Leaden Hill.
A free car park will be available off the high street and signposted in the village a 10-15 minute walk to the start area. Please use this car park and not the roads around the village as not to obstruct the race route. Access and departure will be limited from the car park during race time. Please no parking on the recreation ground. Disabled parking only will be available at the school.
The registration desk will be open from 8-9:15am where race numbers and chips should be collected. Please note race numbers and chips will NOT be sent out prior to the event. Please allow sufficient time to collect and attach your race number prior to the run.
Closing date for entries will be 23rd June or when the race limit has been reached, whichever is earlier. Late entries will be available on the day if spaces are still available. (Late entry cost is £20).
The 5K and 10K start on the beautiful Leaden Hill and continue cross country in the surrounding countryside, with some short sections on road. Please note this route may be uneven and or muddy under foot so please come prepared.
For the route we have been fortunate to obtain special permission to go over private land for the event giving you the opportunity to run areas not usually accessible to the public. For this reason the exact course will not be published until closer to the event and the private sections of the course must not be run on outside of the event.
The 2K fun run will start and finish on the recreation ground and have no on road sections. This makes this event ideal for runners of all ages and abilities. The route for this event is a series of laps around the school field and recreation ground, there is one small section where participants would be out of view along the far side of a hedge. This section will be fenced off from the road and any access areas will be marshalled.

Parts of the route will include crossing road junctions and we therefore strongly advise you NOT to wear mp3 players or headsets during the race, for the safety of yourself and others.
This is a cross country, multi-terrain course and all competitors enter it at their own risk. While medical assistance is provided for the duration of the event, no liability will be accepted by either Petersfield Primary School, FOPS, Run Orwell, private land owners or individual race organisers for any injury incurred by entering this race.
Dogs and Pushchairs
Part of the route includes public footpaths where owners may be walking their dogs. However, we ask you NOT to bring your dogs on this occasion as they are not allowed on the registration area and for the safety and comfort of all competitors.
Due to parts of the route being narrow and uneven pushchairs are also NOT permitted on this run.
There will be a manned baggage area available at registration. Please be aware items are left at your own risk. Items need to be clearly labelled with your run number and will only be returned on presentation of your matching race number.
There will be a water station on both the 5K and 10K routes. Location details will be on the route map when published.
There will be toilets available in the registration area before and after the event. There are no toilets on the course.
Refunds and Transfers
Due to this being a small event we are unable to offer refunds or transfers.
Post race refreshments will be provided at the Orwell Recreation Ground.
Your Personal Data
Run Orwell is organised by Friends of Petersfield School. We will use the personal data you have provided to register you for the Run Orwell event. We will need to share this information with other organisations who are helping us to run the event. This includes our first aiders and chip timing company. We will also use your email address to send you updates and information about the Orwell Fun Run. We will keep your data secure and will not share your contact details with any other organisation for any other use.
