Virtual Event Rules

  • You should complete your chosen distance (2K, 5K or 10K) ensuring you are following all current government guidelines where you are running.

  • Please do not run the previous year's Run Orwell course, as parts of the course cross private land which we only have permission to use on race day.

  • The advertised price only covers shipping the medal within the UK, please contact us if you are interested in international shipping.

  • Having completed your distance you must send evidence of your run to RunOrwell@gmail.com not later than the end of 2020.

Physical Event Rules

The participant must agree to the following terms and conditions prior to booking their place in the event.

 

  • Covid-19 - Should the event need to be cancelled following government guidelines, or other events outside of our control, all paid places will be transferred to our 2021 event.

  • To park only in the designated parking areas as directed by the marshals.

  • All participants for the 10K must be 16 or over on the date of the event.

  • All participants for the 5K must be 10 or over on the date of the event.

  • All participants under 18 must be accompanied at all times by a *paying adult for the 5K & 10K event. *Non paying adults may accompany their child for the 2K event however medals will only be awarded to paid entries

  • All runners under 18 years of age taking part in the 10K or 5K events must remain within arms reach of their accompanying adult at all times.

  • All participants must write their name and details of any health problems or medication on the reverse of the race number along with details of next of kin or someone who can be contacted in the event of an emergency. Participants should also inform the race organisers in advance of the event of any special medical conditions.

  • Numbers must be worn on the front of shirts/vests and be visible throughout the race.

  • If you wish to leave your kit in the baggage area, write your race number on a baggage tag and tie it to your bag. Although this area will be supervised all belongings are left at owners risk.

  • Participants are to line up at the start in the area marked for your expected finishing time and must begin the events at the official recognised starting times.

  • All participants must be positioned behind the starting line when starting and must run over the start mat to activate their timing chip, failure to do so will result in a finishing time not being available for them.

  • Participants are strongly advised to NOT wear mp3 players or headsets during the race, for the safety of themselves and others. Anyone wearing headphones does so at their own risk and should be aware that the route does include crossing road junctions (5K and 10K only) so it is important to be able to hear instructions given by the marshals at all times.

  • Dogs are NOT permitted at the event.

  • Participants are not permitted to run with buggies as the course is narrow in places.

  • All participants agree to abide by the rules of the event and that the officials' decision is final.

  • All participants agree to follow instructions as given from all event officials including race staff, volunteers, medical personnel, security officers and council officials before, during and after the event.

  • All participants are expected to conduct themselves in a professional and courteous manner during their participation in the event. This means, for example, that urinating or defecating anywhere on or near the course shall be strictly prohibited except in toilet facilities. Anyone violating this rule of conduct shall be disqualified from the event and will be asked to leave the course.

  • All participants agree that during the race they will obey marshals' instructions, keep to the left hand side of the road when instructed to and not to cross to the other side of the road unless informed to do so by an official.

  • If I am unable to take part I understand that there will be no refund of race entries and I will not allow anyone else to use my number.

  • All participants understand that photographs may be taken of them during the race by the race photographer and confirm that they are happy for images to be used on any future race publicity materials including race posters, photographs on the race website or on race publicity flyers. The organisers will not use any images of children without specific permission in addition to the agreement requested here.

  • All participants understand their name, gender, age category and result will be published on this and/or other websites after the event.

  • This is a multi-terrain event and all competitors enter it at their own risk. While medical assistance is provided for the duration of the event no liability will be accepted by either Run Orwell, Friends of Petersfield School, Landowners or individual race organisers for any loss, damage, injury or illness  incurred by entering this race.

  • All Participants understand there is a cut-off time of 2 hrs 30 mins to complete this course. If our tail runner feels you are unable to make this he/she reserves the right to ask you to make your way back to the finish by the fastest route or hand you a map to complete the course at your own risk. If the latter please be aware that race signage ,road closures and water stations are likely to have been removed.

  • Participants must retire at once from the race if ordered to do so by a member of the event’s official staff, official medical staff, or any person in authority, including emergency service personnel.

  • All Participants understand that in the interest of safety, the Race Director and event officials, in consultation with the Emergency Services, reserve the right to delay, cancel, or suspend the race due to extreme inclement weather or a major incident on or near the event route. In these circumstances no refunds will be issued.

  • All participants agree In the event of any major occurrences along the route, the Race Director and the Emergency Services will reserve the right to alter/shorten the route, but still provide a race if possible. In these circumstances no refunds will be issued.

  • All participants understand that users of the car park do so at their own risk. Event staff and landowners will not accept liability for any accidents, damage or loss to vehicles or persons.

  • The Race Director and the Emergency Services reserve the right to stop the race at any time, if deemed necessary. These would be in circumstances beyond our control and no refunds would be given.

  • Medical personnel authorised by the event to do so may examine any participant who appears to be in distress. If in the sole opinion of authorised medical personnel it is in the best interest of the participant’s health and welfare, medical personnel may remove the participant from the event.

  • Event officials reserve the right to modify, supplement or waive all or part of the event rules without notice. It is the participants’ responsibility to check the event website for any changes.

  • Participants shall be bound by any modification or supplement of the event rules published prior to the event.
